A celebrated debate between two respected men considered to be the intellectual giants of the time contained the following gem. 

“There are no miracles, except, of course, by the power and grace of the Almighty, by his hand alone is his will done. No man shall nor could have a hand in that!”, bellowed the stern one, pounding his fist on the wooden dais with dunderous and righteous fury.

The reply came, “I would say to you sir, on that matter, just look at that girl’s face who just now is smiling. Not even your thunderous metaphysical bullying could sway her, except to have her smile. Therein lies the miracle and true wonder, for there is no profound truth so elevated as to not be transformed by a simple smile.” 

Yes, smiles are rooted in wonder and miracle. Lest we become over-serious about deep matters, remember the simple smile, the natural innocence of humour. Over-seriousness about anything can be assuaged by a simple smile. T’is a power. Call it magic if you will. One need not be a Doctor of Philosophy to employ it… in fact, said ‘Doctors’ would do well to be so cheerful. Astonishing! The most ponderous and indomitable of truths is mollified by a smile, bringing about equilibrium of the hearts and minds of men with the greatest of ease. Now, that’s a wonder!
