Ideals

As a human psycho-spiritual dynamic, idealism is the necessary personified blinding in order to see things in a certain meaningful light. In this sense, ideals express the interaction between an individual and his possibilities for being. 

Crystallization is like that: an example of hardening facets of a much bigger matrix, shafts of light frozen in time; an example of clarity shedding light on all things in a highly personalized way. When crystals form in the joints of the body, we call it arthritis or rheumatism… the crystallized proteins causing inflammation. Ah, there’s the rub! When a stranger comes to a new community, she might see opportunities where the locals see none. Fascinating.

Today, remember that when ideals are given the status of authority, they become expressions of escapism or denial. However, human creativity through imagination and the irrepressible search for sense is the abundance of discovery through one’s natural idealism, meaning the formation of one’s ideals. In this sense, ideals are perspectives brought to bear on experience, elevated to principles that, while capable of lasting constructive influence, are never meant to be enduring eternal truths. 

Good day to listen to surf sounds, to allow subconscious tides wash away over-crystallized ideals. Contemplation is the softening antidote for inflamed arthritis of the mind.
