It may be important to re-frame experience today.

​There are indications of very serious thought, perhaps fuelled by a sense of loss of love. And yet, there will be warm generous feelings of love and affection. It seems ripe for emotional contradiction… which is a great divide, on either side of which, one may fall.

There is no contradiction if you have lost someone through armed conflicts… many nations honour war veterans, and memorialize those fallen, on this day. For others, it is crucial to allow for deeper dynamics, below the level of conscious awareness, that will pull on the heart. The only act required… and regarding this, it is a good thing to be derelict in all else… is to bless. Bless yourself and others. We are powerless when it comes to bringing back the departed, except in unfettered love. 

While in the intermediate zone between waking and sleep, one may have rich feelings and memories arise. This is actually a very good place to visit one’s deepest inner feelings for positive effects. Do pay attention to what comes up when drifting off during an unplanned nap, for example. Perhaps whisper some magic words, “You are fine to me Mary McGregor!”, even though she has run off with that scoundrel Rory McQuade.

For t’is better to send off in sweetness that which could n’er be tied, lest you bind yourself in bitterness and hold yourself deprived.
