A bald-headed man is sometimes called a chrome dome. While that slightly derisive appellation may a curled lip of humour bestir, there is another shine to place upon it.
Consider those moments when clarity befalls the mind of a man. Not the clarity of facts, nor precision gear-meshed thinking, but that of a glow illuminating and filling the inward dome of the conscious mind.
Although familiar ways of describing this kind of clarity are rare, the experience is quite common. You wake in the night. Somehow the silver drenched fields bathed in the light of the moon pale against the inward glow. Or, you watch other patrons of a busy cafe talk and move, sharp clinks of cups, plates and cutlery pierce the room while blinding sunshine brings eyes to squint by glint and gleam. Still, within, a lustrous presence prevails. You see it all, as if the constellated skies at night watch from behind and the irritating details of broken cups on tiled floors soften on the panoramic blanket of awareness.
The word ‘bald’ points directly to whiteness… the chalk-like gleaming characteristic of higher awareness experiences. Today, be alert for a ‘new day dawning’. A simple switch from external distraction to inwardness can change the light of day.
Inwardness is not the forfeiture of reality, as if imagination is to grovel at the foot of logic and reason. Inwardness is like a season in shift… the fields after harvest, the frost covered forests. Inwardness is a motion which encompasses, embraces, sees behind and through. By this motion, all things are changed without judgment.
The mindful man approaches his own dominion when he steps inside this dome.
